Specialised trainings for infrastructure expansion
Economic cooperation is a central pillar of bilateral relations between Germany and Kosovo. Job and training opportunities in Kosovo for subsequent employment in projects in Germany are also an important pillar of this. To discuss measures to implement this strategy, the German ambassador to Kosovo, Jörn Rohde, visited the newly opened Axians Telecom Infrastructure (TI) Training Center together with Burim Mirakaj, CEO VINCI Energies DACH & CEE ICT on 11.07.2024.
“Delighted to visit Axians’ new training center providing state-of-the-art equipment and top notch trainers. Promoting the prospects of young people from Kosovo and building bridges to deploy local specialists in infrastructure projects in Germany. The quality of the new training center, its equipment and the prospects for young talents in broadband expansion and infrastructure planning are impressive,” said Ambassador Rohde.
The opening of the new TI Training Center is an important milestone for Kosovo. This is where Axians will train and educate professionals and trainees to help its teams and the Group’s network in Germany meet the high demand for broadband expansion with additional resources. It represents a shared commitment to training and development, enhancing skills and equipping people with the right knowledge and tools to succeed.
“With our training center, we are continuing our investment in talented people from Kosovo for deployment in international projects. Our training courses offer qualifications for deployment in projects and on construction sites in German-speaking countries and in accordance with German standards. We are particularly proud of the variety of skills and abilities that young people can acquire here. The trusting and constant exchange with the German Embassy is very important to us,” says Burim Mirakaj.
The state-of-the-art facility in Gjakove will be an international hub for employee learning, collaboration and professional development. Training and qualification programs include technical training (splicing, laying and installation of fiber optic cables, civil engineering, distribution cabinets, surveying, 3D design), German language training and courses on elements of the company’s corporate culture (e.g. values, safety culture). It also includes a safety “dojo” classroom and a large test campus for outdoor practical work.
Mr. Rohde and Mr. Mirakaj were excited about the opportunities this will bring to young Kosovars and the positive impact it will have on the cooperation between Germany and Kosovo. In conversations with the training center team and the trainees, the spirit of optimism and gratitude for the collaboration was palpable.
